Game #6
DeMatha Rolls Past Mt. Zion Prep, 42-6, for Third Consecutive Victory
Stags produce season-high scoring performance as winning streak continues ahead of Good Counsel matchup.
HYATTSVILLE, Md. — Friday, October 2, 2026 — DeMatha delivered its most productive offensive performance of the season Friday night, overwhelming Mt. Zion Prep Academy, 42-6, to improve to 5-1.
The Stags scored a season-high 42 points while limiting the visiting Warriors to a single touchdown, extending their winning streak to three games.
DeMatha entered the contest with consecutive victories over Loudoun Sports Academy and Riverdale Baptist, having regained momentum following its September 11 defeat against Roman Catholic.
Against Mt. Zion Prep, the Stags produced their largest margin of victory of the season to that point.
The 36-point win surpassed DeMatha's previous high of 35 points scored against Archbishop Spalding in the season opener.
Defensively, the Stags held an opponent to six points for the second time in three games.
The victory improved DeMatha to 5-1, while Mt. Zion Prep Academy fell to 2-4.
Since losing to Roman Catholic, DeMatha has outscored its next three opponents 97-24.
That stretch has provided an important boost as the Stags approach a more demanding phase of their schedule.
Their next opponent will be Our Lady of Good Counsel, a familiar WCAC program that enters the matchup with a 3-3 record after defeating St. Mary's Ryken, 42-0.
For DeMatha, the upcoming game offers an opportunity to carry its momentum into a contest against one of the region's established private school football programs.
DMV Gridiron Takeaway: DeMatha's offense reached a season high with 42 points, while the defense delivered another strong performance. The Stags have responded to their only defeat with three convincing victories.
Final Score: DeMatha 42, Mt. Zion Prep Academy 6
