Game #3 Glen Burnie Hands Old Mill Its First Volleyball Loss in Straight Sets The Patriots struggle to generate o`ense as their unbeaten start comes to an end. DMV Volley | September 24, 2026 GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Old Mill entered Thursday's match against Glen Burnie with two victories and a growing sense of momentum. The Gophers brought that start to an abrupt halt. Glen Burnie swept the Patriots, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18, handing Old Mill its first defeat of the season. Old Mill managed 15 kills across the three sets, a significant decline from the 47 it recorded in its five-set victory over Northeast. Olivia Ballard finished with four kills, while Maia Brown contributed one kill and three total blocks. The Patriots recorded 42 digs and 12 aces, but those contributions were not enough to overcome their o`ensive di`iculties. The opening set o`ered Old Mill its closest opportunity. The Patriots reached 21 points before Glen Burnie finished with a four-point margin. The next two sets followed a more decisive pattern, with the Gophers winning both 25-18. The defeat dropped Old Mill to 2-1 and underscored a challenge that could shape the rest of its season: finding enough consistent o`ense against opponents capable of limiting its primary attackers. The Patriots were scheduled to face Southern next. DMV Volley Takeaway: Old Mill remained active defensively but struggled to turn possessions into points. Improving o`ensive e`iciency would be central to its response.
