WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Gonzaga Eagles returned to their winning ways Saturday with a commanding 38-6 victory over Bishop McNamara, delivering a strong response following their first loss of the 2026 high school football season.
After falling 27-19 to Malvern Prep in their previous contest, Gonzaga entered its matchup against Bishop McNamara looking to regain momentum as Washington Catholic Athletic Conference competition began.
The Eagles answered with one of their most convincing performances of the season, overwhelming the Mustangs on the scoreboard while limiting their opponent to just six points.
The victory improved Gonzaga to 6-1 and marked the third time this season the Eagles have defeated an opponent by 20 or more points.
Through seven games, Gonzaga is averaging 28.3 points per contest, demonstrating an offense capable of producing consistently against a challenging schedule.
For Bishop McNamara, the loss ended a three-game road winning streak and dropped the Mustangs to 5-2.
The result also carried significance in the WCAC, where conference matchups will play an increasingly important role in shaping the race toward the postseason.
Gonzaga has now recorded victories over opponents from Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia while testing itself against Pennsylvania competition.
